Thank you note + workouts on-demand
To the most essential workers, thank you.
To my brother who is an ER nurse, thank you.
To my mom and mother-in-law and bestie doing what they can in the education system, thank you.
To the staff at my local grocery store, thank you.
To the officers patrolling the streets and flashing smiles, thank you.

That’s the shortlist of people we should all be thanking right now. Then there are some unsung heroes – therapists, trainers, nutritionists, and spiritual teachers – who stepped up to the plate, changed the way they work and continued to provide the services we need to stay strong, keep our immunity high, and maintain some level on sanity. Then there is the #stayinside crew (hopefully this includes you), who are doing their part to social distance and resist spending leisure time outside even in this amazing weather.
—
From the beginning of all of this, I made a commitment to do my part in helping you jump, sweat, strengthen, stretch and release. I’m so grateful for having the means to provide what I truly believe is such an important service.
You showed up, giving me what I needed – support, smiles and a continued sense of community. Thank you for that. I’ll continue to show up for you for as long as you continue to show up for me. We’re in this together.

This isn’t my first virtual teaching rodeo. For years, I taught Monday night virtual yoga with DanceFIT studio. The virtual studio was built for busy moms, busy students, or those without access to a gym nearby. I looked forward to this class every single week and it was one of the harder things to give up when I moved to Berlin.
In the beginning, I was skeptical about being able to truly connect with clients over a computer screen. I quickly learned that this community was strong. They understood each other, they could relate to each other, they shared a lot of the same struggles when it came to squeezing movement into the day. Then there is this other element: Welcoming me and others into their home every Monday night on a Zoom call. Giving us a very personal glimpse into their world – often introducing us to kids, pets, and the chaos.

What I learned through this experience is that sharing in movement is powerful – even when it’s no in-person. There is this heightened level of vulnerability that comes with turning on your Zoom camera, shaking around, and letting people see you in your sacred space. It requires strength. It requires dedication and commitment to yourself and your wellbeing.
Continue to share moments with your friends and loved ones – simultaneously going for a walk or joining a live workout class. If you’d like to take one of my virtual classes on-demand, I’ve added a handful to my YouTube channel.
Stay healthy, keep moving.
xx,
Emily
